Pearle Louise
Keddy
September 12, 1934 – July 2, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pearle Louise Keddy, 90, of Millville, Kings County Nova Scotia. Pearle passed away on July 2, 2025, at Grand View Manor, Berwick, Nova Scotia.
Born in Nicholsville, she was the daughter of the late James Leroy Collins and Sarah (Sadie) Anne Spinney. Pearle married the love of her life, Jack, on July 19, 1956, and they were married for 40 years before Jack's passing on January 23, 1997.
Pearle's greatest love was being married to Jack and raising their two children, Kevin and Shelley. Pearle was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends and family members. Pearle was a devoted Christian and was a long-time member of the Morristown Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a part of the church choir and bible studies and she was very devoted to her faith. Pearle also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and especially her vegetable gardening and flower gardening which she took great pride in and was well-known for her beautiful flower gardens all around her home.
In the early part of her marriage, Pearle worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Aylesford. She later spent a lengthy career (over 40 years) working with Vaughan Nichols' farm in Morristown as a seasonal worker in many capacities including pruning trees, picking apples, blueberries, etc. and she was one of the legendary (if not notorious) members of the apple picking crew that included her close friends Ella Porter, Anna Gibson, Violet Gates and Annie Harding. Although very hard workers, that crew could often be heard throughout the area with their laughter and talking while working on the farm. I am sure that there are many good stories about them that so many could tell.
Pearle and Jack did a lot of camping over the years and that included the cottage that Jack had built at Hunts Lake. Pearle and Jack also enjoyed some travelling Out West by car as well on one occasion but, mostly, their travelling was around Nova Scotia and surrounding areas with their children and other family members. Pearle enjoyed spending time relaxing at her cottage in Black Rock and has also taken trips out of the province with her sister, Jean (and Alan) to visit with family at various times. Pearle also greatly enjoyed her trip to Alaska with Kevin and Bonnie a few years ago.
Pearle is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Joudrey) and son-in-law, Stephen of Berwick, her sister, Jean (Alan) Smith of Kentville and is also survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Collins of Massachusetts (and Turner's Brook). She is also survived by her grandsons, Karl (Alicia) Aalders of Aylesford, Michael Aalders of Aylesford, granddaughters, Janelle Keddy of Aylesford, Krista (Ray) Hill of Aylesford, Vanessa (Devin) Weihers of Morristown; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Aalders of Aylesford, Hailey Savage of Aylesford, Brooke Savage of Aylesford, Chelsea Hill of Aylesford, Emma Weihers of Morristown, Matthew Weihers of Morristown, and her step-grandchildren, Tanya Joudrey of Lower Sackville and Tammy (Steven) Milton of Cold Lake, Alberta and her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Keddy of Aylesford. Pearle is also survived by several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends that she loved so dearly.
Pearle was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Jack, on January 23, 1997, her mother-in-law, Annie Keddy in 1996 and her son, Kevin, on September 22, 2022. She is also predeceased by her sister, Margaret (Rex) Bush, Ferna (Donald) Morse, brothers, Ross (Anne) Collins, Cyril (Ella) Collins, Milton Collins, and Lester (Irene) Collins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, Middleton. A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in the Morristown Baptist Church, 6557 Aylesford Road, Morristown with Rev.
