Obituary

BANKS, Philip Wiswall – 92 of Meadowvale, Annapolis County passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Meadowvale he was a son of the late Oakley and Pearl (Wiswall) Banks. In early years Philip worked for Charlie Thompson as a welder and mechanic and later worked as a welder on various construction projects throughout the Province. Philip enjoyed the outdoors, particularly, hunting, trapping and fishing. He was a member of the Wilmot Baptist Church. Philip is survived by daughter Susan (Robert) Ritcey, Torbrook Mines; sons Waldon (Joan) Banks, Meadowvale, Wayne (Velma) Banks, Cranbrook, B.C. and Morris Banks (Susan Luscombe), Duncan, B.C.; brother Bob (Mary) Banks, Pembrooke, Ont.; grandchildren Kimberlee, Todd, Bonnie, Terry, Brody, Brittney, Jennifer, Jessica and Kyle; 15 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife the former Opal Creemer, son Stanley, sisters Naomi Coleman, Evangeline Ferguson and Ellen Findlay and brother John. By request, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 20 th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. , 902 825-3448 with Rev. Julia Howard officiating. Family flowers only please. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in the Wiswall Cemetery, Wilmot. Donations in memory may be made to the Wilmot Baptist Church, VON Annapolis Valley Branch, Mountain Lea Lodge or a charity of choice. A special thank you to the VON and to Dr Ainamo who provided Dad with excellent care for many years prior to going to Mountain Lea; also to the Doctors and Staff at Mountain Lea for their care & kindness this past year.
