Obituary

GIBSON, Philip Ernest - 92 of Nictaux and formerly of Round Hill, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, he was the only son of the late Ernest and Annie Merle Gibson. Philip was educated at Annapolis Royal Academy, then went to Acadia University for the first two years of study in Chemical Engineering. From Wolfville, he moved to Montreal where he earned his B,Eng at McGill University in 1943. After graduation he was employed at Molson Coors Canada in Montreal where he worked his way up management ranks to Operations Engineer. Philip and his wife Claire returned to Nova Scotia and settled in Round Hill after his retirement in 1978. During the years that followed, they travelled extensively throughout the world. He is survived by a daughter Joanne Gibson Wiggins, New York City; grandchildren Annie Wiggins Wood and Reid Wiggins; great grandchildren Emerson and Henry Wood. Philip was predeceased by his wife the former Claire Vallieres. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 in the Round Hill Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Round Hill Community Hall, 1689 Highway 201, Round Hill for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448.
