Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Wayne Selig, at the young age of 76. Philip passed away peacefully, at home, in Kingston, Kings Co., N.S., on Saturday, September 7, 2024, with his children by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Marguerite, who he missed dearly; his parents, William Edgar Selig from Middleton, N.S. and Jean Louise (Best) Selig from Lawrencetown, N.S.; his younger sister, Carlene Selig of Pugwash, N.S.; and younger brother, Brian Selig of Thailand.

Dad served in The Royal Canadian Air Force, as an Avionics Electrician by trade, for a total of 38 years, in both Regular Force and Reserves. He joined the Airforce just one day after his 18th birthday and dedicated his life to his career and family. When dad tried to fully retire, he just could not. He continued to work, for "fun" as he would say, at the Paragon Golf & Country Club in Kingston. It couldn't be work as it was something he loved so much, and he truly did have a love for the game of golf. Dad grew up in the city, but his heart was always in the country. He would spend his weekends here in the Annapolis Valley as a young boy, with his Grandparents. He spoke of these days as some of the best in his life. The valley was his home. He had a love for the outdoors, the fresh air, fishing and his family. He also was an avid sports fan, enthusiast and collector for over 35 years, and yes, a Leafs and Sox fan he was!

Dad will be forever missed by his surviving children - daughter Tammy Selig (David), of Wilmot, N.S.; son, Kenneth Selig (Karla), of Greenwood, N.S.; daughter, Pamela Selig (Matthew), of West Paradise, N.S.; and daughter, Kimberly Mader (Justin), of Middleton, N.S.; and all 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Carolyn Selig, who has resided with him for over 40 years; brother, Terrance Selig (Debbie), of Middleton, N.S.; sister, Patricia Forrestall (Ed), of Halifax N.S.; brother, Darrell Selig, of Trenton, N.S.; and brother, Michael Selig (Audrey), of Timberlea, N.S.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, September 18, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, with Rev. Elizabeth Amirault officiating. A reception will follow the service. Private interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery with the immediate family.
