SWINIMER, Phillis – age 93 of Berwick, Kings Co., formerly of Kennetcook, Hants Co., passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Blair Hall, Scotland, on December 23, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Helen (Logan) Wallace. During the Second World War, Phillis worked in London, England, as a ticket master on the double decker buses. She met her husband (a Canadian Soldier) at a social in London. They fell in love and married at Dunfermline, Scotland and Phillis came to Canada as a war bride. Living in Halifax, she attended Miss Murphy Business College. She became an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, climbing the ladder to become the Worthy Matron of Queen Esther Chapter No. 61. Phillis always had a keen mind for playing cards, bridge being her favourite. Rejoicing in her life are her children, Janet (Barry) Brush, Renfrew, Ont.; Phillis (Leaon) Zinck, Middleton; John Swinimer, Mill Cove; grandchildren, Kathleen, Kimberlee, Barry, Scott, Lee Anne, James, Holly, Emily, John, Steven, Heather; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Avard Swinimer; son, Alexander Swinimer. Phillis will be sorely missed. There will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, in Nictaux Cemetery. Rev. Bill McLeod and Rev. Patty Beals officiating.
