DEVINE, R. WAYNE ~ Age 75, of Nictaux, NS passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Yarmouth, NS, he was the son of the late Roy and Pauline (Lent) Devine. Wayne spent most of his working life with McCain Foods Limited and retired as VP, Retail Sales in Toronto in 1998. He and his wife, Joyce (Mailman) enjoyed playing golf and travelling for many years. Wayne will be forever remembered for the love he showed to his wife and family and his sharp sense of humour. Wayne was a big sports enthusiast, both as a fan and as a coach. His three favourite athletes of all time were his sons. His next wave of enthusiasm came from the anticipation of having his grandchildren come to visit at their home. From board games to golf to fishing and horseback riding, going to the Exhibition, teaching his grandchildren to drive his big truck on old dirt roads, Wayne was extremely happy about any adventure with a grandchild. Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce; sons, Robert (Cathi), New Minas; Eric, Lantz; Kevin, London Ont.; brothers, Ken (Judy) Yarmouth; Dave (Jane) Burlington, Ont.; sisters, Pat Mercer (Bruce) Brantford, Ont.; Cathy (Paul) Posta, Burlington, Ont.; six grandchildren, Jamie (Amanda), Sam, Cassie, Olivia, Mindy and Jake. In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by brother, Bob, sister-in-law, Lois, and daughter-in-law, Kim Paterson. Wayne's family would like to thank the staff of the VG Oncology Department, Dr. Drysdale, the ER staff at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, and the VON/Palliative care teams. Donations can be made to the Diabetes Canada or charity of choice. No visitation at Wayne's request. Funeral service will be held on 11 am, Monday, June 4th at the Nictaux Baptist Church, 8836 Highway 201, Nictaux with Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Family flowers only.
