ATWATER, Ralph Best - age 88, of Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born on October 12, 1928, in Port Williams, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Howard H. And Elise R. (Corkum) Atwater. Ralph had worked at several jobs during his life including fish peddler, taxi and bus driver, later as a truck driver until his retirement. He was a man who faithfully followed his morning routine throughout the village of Aylesford and enjoyed time spent at his son's Automotive Service Centre. Ralph was devoted to his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years, the former Eileen M. Veinott; daughter, Darlene (Aubrey) Keddy, Millville; sons, Wayne (Karen) Atwater, Morden; Gregory (Karen) Atwater, Aylesford; Timothy (Sheila Morse) Atwater, Berwick; grandchildren, Matthew, Kendall, Trevor and Travis; great-grandchildren, Harvey and Landon; sister, Helen Whalen, New Minas; brother, Jerry Atwater, New Minas; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Jean Norman; brothers, Wylie, Murray and Donald Atwater. There will be no visitation. Memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Friday, December 30, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448, with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. Interment in Aylesford Union Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
