MEAD, Ralph Ernest- 96 of Middleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at home overlooking the lake with family.
Ralph attended Hazel Hill School, Rothesay Netherwood School, NB, then joined Pictou
Highlanders (Canadian Army Infantry) in Canso & PEI. Then went on to Acadia University (Engineering Class of 1950), Radio College of Canada Toronto, PHILCO Toronto (building radios), Motorola Markham, Ont. (TV/Radio Service Technician). Married in 1956. He then moved his family from Markham, Ont. to Middleton, NS in 1977, started a family Watch/Clock Repair & Bakery business, then ending his career choice by becoming a Real Estate Agent for 38 years, retiring at age 87.
Truly a man of his word. A dedicated/loving husband, father and friend. Honesty, loyalty, patience & hard working was in his blood for those who knew/worked with him. He also dedicated many years to the Middleton Anglican Church, Scouts Canada, and became a 2nd generation honorary member of the Eastern Angling Club (est.1891) involved for 87yrs.
His retirement consisted of enjoying every day possible at the lake helping his son Philip and family with any kind of job we could provide to keep him busy while enjoying meals sitting on the deck watching the loons or by the campfire. Surrounded by family, friends and nature was his place.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth (Beth) May Mead & sister Grace Marina (Ralph) Totten.
He is survived by sisters: Margaret Horne (Robert), Nora Lyons (Peter) & Doreen Shmitke (Paul)
Children: Gary, Linda (Dave), Diane (Rick) & Philip
Grandchildren: Charlotte, William & Jeremy, Johnathan & Melissa (Adam), Daniel (Lucy) & Steven (Jess), Shannon (Kevin)
Great Grandchildren: Matteo, Olivia, Charlotte, Zachary & another on the way
