NEILY, Ralph Reginald 99, of Tremont passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born April 1, 1911 in Tremont, he was a son of the late Reginald and Eva (Saunders) Neily. Ralph enjoyed a life of farming until retiring at the age of 90, keeping dairy and beef cattle, apple orchards, horses and wood cutting. He provided a weekly service of his farm produce to South Shore merchants. In early years he worked at the Kingston Evaporator, Scott's Monuments, Middleton and the Valley Creamery. He was a member of the Annapolis Valley Men's Gospel Choir, Three Rivers Seniors' Club and held a membership in Nictaux Baptist Church. Ralph loved a good joke and will be remembered for his keen sense of humour. He enjoyed a game of cards with friends and family at any time and was also a great bowling enthusiast. He appreciated the friendship and fun with his caregivers at Grand View Manor and his special friend, Rick Marshall. The family is grateful for the care and concern provided by Manor staff. Ralph was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by daughters, Irene Mills, Kingston; Genevieve Butterworth (Hank Neufeld), New Minas; Nancy (Andy) Neily-Kohut, Kanata, Ont.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great great- grandchildren, in addition to many nieces and nephews, He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, the former Ellen Reid; son, Donald; sisters, Helen Woodbury, Mildred Darby and Marjorie White; brother, Earle and son-in-law, Gerry Mills. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, Rev. David Phillips officiating.
