Obituary

MAPPLEBECK, Ramona LaVerne ~ age 85 of Aylesford, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on May 9, 2018, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born at her family home in Harbourville, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Leslie and Lois Mammie (Best) Aker. Ramona kept life simple. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family, friends and personal treasures. She took great pleasure from her gardens and preparing dinners with all the fixings for her family during the holidays and special gatherings. She enjoyed going to yard sales, collecting snowmen, salt and pepper shakers and listening to bluegrass music. And let's not forget the enjoyment she got from knitting the hundreds of dishcloths and slippers she made for family and friends. Ramona quilted for the Canadian Red Cross Society and was a volunteer for the Victoria Order of Nurses for a number of years. In her earlier years she was actively involved with the Victoria Harbour United Baptist Church. Ramona will be sadly missed by her daughters, JoAnn LaVerne (Brian) Rafuse, Burlington; Cindy Louise (Doug Fitzpatrick) Mapplebeck, Bedford; sons, Sidney Everett, Whites Lake; Lloyd Richmond (Lauranne Sanderson), Truro; brothers, John (Freda) Aker, Coldbrook; Leslie (the late Carol) Aker, Kentville; 12 grandchildren, Kelly (Mark Pineo), Leigh (Dennis Purcell), Sarah (Mark Boychuck), Lucas (Cathrine Farrell), Josiane, Shannon (Mark Branscombe), Colin (Alex Maes), Carmen (Spencer Scott), Lauren (Josh Bulmer), Erica (Colin Power), Ryan (Stacey German), Aaron; three great grandchildren, Isaac, Chase and Liam; several nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Mike Smith; dear friends, Tammy West and Stella Dunn.
