HUNTER, Ray Douglas ~ age 74 of Selfridge Corner, NS passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville surrounded by his family. Born in Amherst, NS he was a son of the late Austin and Annie May (MacDonald) Hunter. Ray retired after 30 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving in the Black Watch Regiment, RCR and the Engineers. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid collector, especially hockey cards and a Chicago Black Hawks fan. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 51 ½ years, Ruth; sons, Ray Hunter, Trenton, ON; Robert (Tammy) Hunter, Courtenay, BC; Richard Hunter, Mount Pearl, NL; sisters, Marilyn (Edward) Everill, Tatamagouche; Venetta Rimmer (Matt), Winnipeg Beach; Leota (Charles) Johnson, Ancaster, ON; brothers, Bill (Frances) Hunter, Winnipeg; Glen Hunter (Ruby), Middle Sackville; grandchildren Alexis Hunter, Sarah Hunter, Austin Hunter, Camryn Hunter, Calvin Hunter, Logan Hunter, Claire Hunter, Matthew Hunter and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Wallace, Gary, Darrel and sister, Sharon. In keeping with Ray's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held 2-4PM Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 98 Kingston, 1472 Veterans Lane. All are welcome.
