SANFORD, Raymond "Ray" Aubrey – age 76 of Trout Lake, formerly of Wilmot, NS passed away at home on Monday, August 8, 2016. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Aubrey James and Ida Blanche (Berry) Sanford. Ray was the loving husband of 54 years to his wife Elaine. Ray was a friend to everyone and believed a stranger was simply a friend he had not yet met. Regardless of where he travelled, his family was always astounded to hear someone call out his name and greet him warmly within minutes of arriving at any destination they chose. His quick smile, razor wit, and extended hand of friendship was the consistent example he used for his family and endeared him to so many people. Ray will be sadly missed by wife Elaine (Noble); daughter Cynthia (Colin) Chisholm, South Lyon, Michigan; son Shawn (Janet) Sanford, Toronto, ON; brothers Shirley (Kay), North Kingston and Wayne (Celeste), New Minas, NS; grandchildren Alex, Ben, Madison, Connor, Isaac and Allison. Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by sister, Jean Webster and brothers, Freeman and Ralph. In keeping with Ray's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 12, 2016 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Private family interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Albany, NS.
