WEST, Raymond "Ray" Caldwell – 88 of Middleton went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Thursday, November 17, 2016 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late John and Freda (Brennan) West. Ray was a well-known resident in the town of Middleton. He spent his entire working career in the education field having taught school at M.R.H.S. and was involved in the Air Cadet program while at this school. Ray later retired as principal from the former Russell C. Gordon School in Greenwood. He served his church as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and in retirement, he enjoyed doing needle point, gardening, genealogy and was an avid reader. Ray will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Geraldine "Gerry" Stillings; their children, Greg (Ann) West, Sussex, NB, Beth (Donnie) Hyslop, East Kingston, Anne (Barry) MacKenzie, Baxter's Harbour and Becky (KD) West, Halifax; grandchildren, Jonathan, Aaron and their mother, Jennifer; Craig, Sean, Alex, Christine and Sarah; great grandchildren, Olivia, Jackson, London, Liv and Lawson; nieces, Gail, Brenda, Derreth, Doreen and Sharon; nephew, Karl. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank and sister, Barbara. By request, cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank Grand View Manor and the Palliative Care Team, as well thank you to Dr. Paul MacLean. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 24 th in the Middleton Baptist Church, 111 Commercial St., until the time of service at 12:00 noon with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service in the Family Life Centre of the Church. There will not be an interment at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Grand View Manor Recreation Fund or the 12 Baskets Food Bank, Nictaux.
