FORTIN, Rebecca Leona "Beckey" ~ Aged 47, of Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in Valley Hospice, Kentville.  Born in Guelph, Ontario, and raised in North Bay, Ontario, Beckey was the daughter of Daniel (Wendy) Fortin of Alberta, and the late Janice Laforest. She was also predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Edison and Agnes McGee; and her paternal grandfather, Henry (Mary) Fortin. Beckey is survived by her love and best friend, Michael T. Jones; son, Jesse (Megan) who resides in Halifax; mother-in-law, Gail White; sister-in-law, Sheri Jones. She will be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren, Sahaira and Kayson. Beckey is also survived by siblings, Jennifer, Ontario; Tracy, Nova Scotia, and Tanaya and Blaise, Alberta; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Also survived by Nicole Forbes, Brenda (Roger) Ryan, and Cathy (Ken) MacAskill who was her angel and took her under her wing to guide and love her like a mother. Beckey moved to Nova Scotia in 1992 and dearly loved her new home. She always said how blessed she was to have so many friends and extended family who she loved deeply. Over the years Beckey worked at Bargain Harley's in Berwick, Apple Valley Foods Inc. in Kentville, and most recently at the Valley Regional Hospital in the food nutrition department. Beckey was grateful for the many friendships she made that have lasted a lifetime. Thanks to Dr. Cogswell, the Hematology Team at Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, and the staff of the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville. Cremation has taken place. At Beckey's request, there will be no funeral or burial. A celebration of life will take place at a later date when public gatherings are permitted.  Donations in her memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
