Obituary

BOATES, Reginald Avery 87, of Kingston, NS passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wilmot, he was a son of the late Joseph and Abigail (Taylor) Boates. Reginald served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment during the Second World War. After the war, he went to work for Hiltz Bros. Furniture, Kentville. For many years he owned and operated R.A. Boates Furniture & Appliances Limited, Kingston. He was a charter member and first President of the Kingston Lions Club, charter member and first General Chairman of the Kingston Steer Barbeque, past member of the Paragon Golf & Country Club, past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 98 Kingston and past Commissioner and Chairman of the Kingston Village Commission. Reginald enjoyed golfing and travelling. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his sons, John (Gail), Frankford, ON; Jeffrey (Deborah Phillips), Greenwood and Stephen (Kathleen), Kingston; sisters, Abby Clark, Berwick and Pauline (George) Barker, Wilmot; daughters-in-law, Janette, Middleton and Janice, Melvern Square; grandchildren, Cheryl, Kimberley, Michael, Tracey, Darren, Justin, Joseph, Isaac, Alex, Brian and John and great-grandchildren, Kierstin, Nicholas, Geoffrey, Connor, Daniel and Bella. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife the former Edith MacInnes; his second wife the former Frances Cleveland; son Gerard Gerry; sisters Mazie, Chuckie, Tommie; brothers, Lorne, Tib, John, Bob, Bill and Roy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9PM Wednesday, August 4 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where the memorial service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, August 5. Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only.
