The Family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Staff of Mountain Lea Lodge for their care and compassion during Reg's time there. We appreciate every kindness you extended to him and to us as well. Reg was a well-known and well respected businessman, architect, musician, woodworker, and craftsman.   He was self-taught and had a strong work ethic which he instilled and expected in his Family and Staff. He established the family owned and operated business, Quinn Flooring in 1942 and was extremely proud of his grandson Reginald (Tony) in continuing on his business legacy. He was deeply honored and thrilled to have his 75 years of Family Entrepreneurship acknowledged by Senator Mercer at the Canadian Senate, Parliament Hill in January of this year. Reg brought one of the first snowmobiles to Atlantic Canada and was one of the founding members of the Driftclimbers Snowmobilers Club and the Snowmobilers Association of N.S.. He was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the SANS Membership in 2012. He also served as past chairman of the International Snowmobile Association and as a past secretary of the Canadian Snowmobile Association. Reg served as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Royal Canadian Army. He spent part of his career serving as a Drum Major with the Irish Regiment of Canada, served with the 2nd Battalion Black Watch, Served with the RCAS Corp, with the Princess Louise Fusiliers and the RC Artillery. He enlisted on the 20th of September 1946 and proudly served until his retirement on May 1, 1978. Reg loved to design and create things for people and would oftentimes spend countless hours in his workshop designing, crafting and turning out beautiful handcrafted products. From sleigh beds, dressers, armoires, to road salt dispensers made from large Folgers cans with hand carved handles to a hand carved celtic cross for a loved one to carry with them there was no limit to his creativity and talent. Reg loved music, loved sharing his joy of music and was an extremely gifted drummer and percussionist. He was a self-taught musician, he had many of his own bands and orchestras over the years. He conducted and directed the Stadacona Military Band and was very fortunate to have the opportunity to play with some of the greatest musicians. Over the last several years Reg continued to play with the Kingston United Church Combo and "Shout". Reg loved to volunteer his time and spent many enjoyable years volunteering for Windsor United, Kingston United and Margaretsville United Churches. He always went early and had hot coffee and tea ready to share when you walked in the door. Reg always had a smile for you, a special twinkle in his eyes, and those dimples that grace the faces of his children and grandchildren. Our Family was truly Blessed in having his Love and being able to Love him in return. We, the Family, know that he is in Heaven now and is already organizing the ultimate in musical groups; ready to strike up the band!
