DURLING, Richard Leroy - Age 68 of South Williamston, passed away peacefully with his wife Linda, best friend Jack and step granddaughter, Katie Forbes at his bedside on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at home. Born in Middleton, NS, he was a son of the late Reginald and Hazel Durling. Richard was a retired Prudential Insurance Agent. He was known around the world for his creative bamboo fishing rods, but enjoyed any and all kinds of woodworking, as well as dealing in fishing gear of any kind and tying flies. Richard enjoyed spending days fishing at his cottage on Rumsey Lake. He is survived by his wife Linda Shearer, South Williamston; step daughters, Darlene (Don) Thorson and Colleen (Reg) Potter and step sons, Jamie Shearer (Deliah Andrews) and Ricky Shearer all of Bridgetown; several step grandchildren and three cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret and sister, Lorraine. Cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, date and time will be announced. Donations in memory of Richard may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Wildlife Federation or a Charity of Choice.
