Obituary

MORSE, Richard Earle "Dick" age 81 of Chester, formerly of Nictaux West passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at home in Chester. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Earle H, and Dorothy M. (Kaye) Morse. Dick was raised on the family farm in Nictaux West and attended Middleton Regional High School. He had a brief career as a sports reporter with the Chronicle Herald. Dick returned to the family farm, which he continued to operate until retirement in 1998. He was instrumental in the founding of the Nova Scotia Potato Marketing Board and other councils supporting the potato industry in Nova Scotia. Upon retirement he and his wife and best friend, Barbara moved to Chester. During this time they travelled extensively throughout Europe and North America. Dick was instrumental in re-establishing the Chester Duplicate Bridge Club. Your family has always looked up to you and will miss your love, humour and fatherly advice. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former, Barbara Johnson, Chester; daughters, Jacqueline (Elwin) Brown, Mount Rose; Heather Morse (Kevin Clarke) Boutilier's Point; Tracey Morse, Orangeville, ON and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, John and sister, Marilyn Walls. Cremation has taken place. The Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, September 11, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Dr. Bill MacDougall officiating. A private family interment will be in the Nictaux Cemetery. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the VON and the Palliative Care Team including Louise and Dr. Abriel.
