Obituary

MILBURY, Richard Eugene - 86yrs, of Morganville, Digby Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the Digby General Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Lake Jolly, NS he was a son of the late Archibald "Arch" and Hilda (Rice) Milbury. Richard loved the outdoors, especially gardening, hunting and fishing and taking daily trips to Bear River and Digby. He worked as a fire tower operator at Lake Jolly for the Department of Lands and Forests for 18 years. Richard was a bit of a comedian and was known for his "Lake Jolly Slum Gollium" and his head cheese that he made. Richard also served as President of the Morganville Cemetery committee. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 65years, the former Marion Drew, Morganville; daughter, Linda Gidney (Dale), Brighton, Digby County; daughters-in-law, Diane Milbury, Bear River and Carolyn Milbury, Digby; sisters, Ruby Rice, Medicine Hatt, AB; Hazel Inglis, Lethbridge, AB; Edith Jefferson, Clementsvale; Pat (Edwin) Gehue, Bear River; Alda Marshall, Ontario; brothers, David (Lorena) Milbury, Bear River; Leslie (Lynn) Milbury, Digby; Laurie (Linda) Milbury, Bear River; Donnie (Frances) Milbury, Bear River; Glendon (Beverly) Milbury, Bear River; grandchildren, Joel (Bonnie) Gidney, Grand Prairie, AB; Jamie (Chris) Gidney, Digby; Tammy (Greg) VanTassel, Mount Pleasant; Raymond (Jenna) Milbury, Little River; great- grandchildren, Trisdyn Gidney, Troy Gidney, Chandler Gidney, Andrew VanTassel, Aaron VanTassel and Parker Milbury and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Wayne Milbury; Robert "Ritchie" Milbury; sisters, Roberta, Marion "Mim", Carol and Merle; and brother Fred. By Richard's request, a private family graveside service will be held in the Morganville Cemetery with Pastor Stephen LeRoy officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Morganville Cemetery.
