Obituary

ONEIL, Richard Leroy- 77 of New Albany, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Mink Cove, Digby County, he was a son of the late Tennyson and Annie (Trahan) ONeil. Richard had been employed at various occupations over the years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and yard sales. Richard was a member of the Springfield United Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Phyllis Whynot; daughters, Annie (Joseph) Whynot, Springfield, NS; Belle Frauzel, Chelsea, Lunenburg County; Darlene Drever (Peter Durling), Upper Granville; sons, Douglas (Heather), Springfield, NS; Allan, Wilmot and Keith, New Albany; sisters, Bev (Lewis) Balcom, Middleton and Anna (Leon) Sabean, Mount Rose, Annapolis County; brother, Eric (Betty) ONeil, South Williamston and 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Arthur, Glidden, Clyde, Lloyd and son-in-law, Rod Frauzel. Visitation will take place 7:00 to 9:00PM Friday, April 1, 2011in the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. The funeral service will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Springfield United Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Interment will be held in the Springfield Cemetery.
