PILON, Cpl. Richard James "Rick" - 48, of Greenwood, NS passed away after a courageous battle with a rare form of liver cancer on Thursday, April 19, 2012 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, surrounded by his family. Born in Marville, France on 27 March 1964, he was a son of the late Maurice and Edith (Wilson) Pilon. Rick served with the Canadian Armed Forces for over 24 years, working as an MSEOP. His postings included Gagetown NB, Ottawa ON, Greenwood NS, Shilo MB, and finally returning to Greenwood. Rick loved sports, especially hockey, baseball, golf and fishing, as well as working with Special Olympics which he did for several years. He is survived by his loving wife the former Tina Anderson; son, Michael Pilon (Tessa Vandenberghe), Red Deer AB; daughter, Britney Pilon (Yannick Gagnon), Kingston NS; brother, Greg (Nancy) Pilon BC; sisters, Gayle Boudreau, Greenwood NS; Patty (Al) Erickson, Ottawa ON; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Sharon Anderson, Kingston NS; brother-in-law, Brian Anderson (Sherry Saulnier) AB; and several nieces and nephews. A special apple in his eye was his only grandson, Blake Richard Albert Gagnon born on February 17, 2012. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 27, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating.
