Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his devoted wife Marie (nee Sheppard); daughter, Sharon (Brent) Fraser; son Brent (Leanne) and his dear grandchildren Macayle, Rachael, Keelan, Grayson and Brennan. Richard was predeceased by his parents Otis and Victoria (Robbins) Buckler of Clementsvale, NS, and sister Lillis Bartlett, Truro. He also leaves two sisters, Vivian Gerdes and Anna Buckler in Alberta; brothers, Larry (Alice) of Halifax; Franklin of Clementsvale; Gladwin (Margaret) of Largo, Florida; many cousins, nieces and nephews. From the age of 17, Richard was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force serving his country from 1956 to 1981. His career in Maritime Command spanned several Atlantic Provinces where he met his wife Marie in Torbay Newfoundland and then served several postings at Armed Forces bases across Canada and Europe. His retirement led him back to Greenwood Nova Scotia. Richard formed Buckler Construction in 1975 with his family and built many houses in Greenwood, Nova Scotia and Iqaluit, Nunavut. Richard's entire life he was an avid outdoorsman and he really cherished spending time every fall in the forests of Nova Scotia. Upon retirement, Rick and Marie were fortunate to spend winter vacations with family and friends at their home in Florida. This became a very special place for Rick as he had very fond memories of the exceptional times with his friends, family, and especially his grandchildren. Recently Richard was proud to walk their daughter Sharon down the aisle for her marriage to new son in law Brent Fraser and enjoyed the ceremony and special weekend at Hubbard's, NS. Richard had a very fulfilling and rewarding life but will be sadly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
