VARNER, Richard Ross – age 81 of Halifax, NS passed away peacefully Monday, September 12, 2016 in Northwood Manor, Halifax. Born in Kingston, NS he was the son of the late Enos and Evelyn (Ross) Varner. Richard retired from Mutual of Omaha, Toronto and returned to Halifax in 1998. He was an avid reader, enjoying music and all sports; being a loyal fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Richard entered Northwood Manor in 2011. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In keeping with Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held on September 21, 2016 in North Kingston Cemetery with Rev. Karen Ralph officiating. Richard will be deeply missed by his close friends, who wish to thank the 9 th floor staff of Northwood Manor for their excellent care of Richard during his time there and Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. (902) 825-3448 for their professional and comforting assistance with the arrangements.
