It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our mom, Rita Lauren Winger, 77, of Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Facility passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024 with Dr. Michele Saxon by her side.

Rita was predeceased by her husband, Robert Winger, her parents Chuck and Ella Gibbons, and her brother Brian Gibbons.

She is survived by daughter Carol Winger, Mission, BC; grandsons Ryan (Ashley) Clark, Edmonton, AB; Craig Clark, Mission, BC; great grandchildren Emma and Owen Clark; son David Winger (Andrea, nee Gulliver), Victoria Vale, NS; grandchildren Jessica St-Jean (Curtis St-Jean), Petawawa, ON; Hailee Winger, Edmonton, AB; Robert Wayne Winger, Victoria Vale, NS; Colby Winger, Victoria Vale, NS; and Tuesday Decay (Jay Decay), Bridgewater, NS; great grandson Noah St-Jean, Petawawa, ON; siblings Lynne, Victoria, BC; Shannon (Doug) Sooke, BC; Keith (Jan), London, ON; Erin (Marc), Kitchener, ON; and sister-in-law Yvonne, Victoria, BC. Lastly her loving and chosen family at HOTV. The unwavering love you have shown our mother and grandmother in the past many years has not gone unnoticed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart of the Valley Long Term Facility Recreation Dept, Middleton Regional High School 02 program. Or pay it forward to someone in honor of Rita. A coffee date, a hug, checking in on a loved one, or even just visiting with them to let them know they are not alone. Thank you to those who have done these very things in the past years for our mom.
