Elliott, Robert Beckwith "Bob" of Mount Hanley, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at home with his loving family and cats by his side. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Mary (Beckwith) Elliott, and brother to Ruth Jay, Laura Elliott (Hans Toom), and the late Malcolm (Eda) Elliott.
Together, he and his wife Donna (née Bent) raised a family and made many lasting memories throughout 54 years of marriage. Bob could literally be described as a jack of all trades. Along with being a licensed automotive mechanic, he completed many night courses at the community college in several trades, and worked in various positions at the Department of Transportation for many years until his retirement. Along with being handy, he was a lifelong collector of "treasures" and kept an eye out for anything useful - and not so useful - for all his future projects. We all knew, if you ever needed anything, go ask Dad and he would have one. And if it was something that had ever been on sale he'd usually have many. Sometimes he had many, many. You could borrow it, but he did want it returned to its pile. Bob loved his family, and as it grew, so did the get togethers.
With three children, Sharon (Scott Kittilsen), John (Caroline, née Hannam), and Sarah (Lew Robicheau), and seven grandchildren – Jenna, Mary, Olivia, Ryan, Emma, Austin, and Lila, life meant 15 yearly birthday parties, holiday celebrations, school functions, regular drop-in visits for a cup of tea, and yearly gatherings with his siblings. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved chatting, especially if it involved Fords, politics, or a good deal on something he usually didn't need. He was an animal and nature lover, and was dedicated to advising his children on how they should be mowing their lawns. This conversation occurred multiple times a week during peak grass-growing season. It only slowed during the winter months, but come spring, Dad would begin his reminders. We will miss those reminders. He was predeceased by his brother Malcolm; brother-in-law Robert Jay; and sister-in-law Lynne Nixon.
The family would like to thank the Home Support staff for their excellent care and kindness. A Celebration of Life for Bob will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Dr. Danny Smith officiating. Private family interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton.
Donations in his memory may be made to Hope for Wildlife, the SPCA, or a charity of choice. Online guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
