Robert Douglas Barron

BARRON, Robert Douglas ~ Age 67, Aylesford, Kings Co., N.S., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at home. Born on June 13, 1959, in Black Forest, Germany, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Amina P. (Anthony) Barron.

Robert was a former member of Aylesford & District Volunteer Fire Department, with several years of service. He had been very involved with Aylesford minor ball and coaching soft ball at West Kings District High School, when his sons attended. Robert had been employed as a school bus driver and enjoyed racing snowmobiles and ATVs. He, along with his late father, had owned and operated R.A. Barron Repair in Waterville and Aylesford for many years.

Robert’s greatest pride in his life was his three boys. He loved them with his whole heart and showed that love everyday through his patience, kindness, and unwavering support. Whether he was offering guidance, sharing a laugh or simply being there when they needed him, his family came first. His love was steady, unconditional and filled with quiet strength. The values he lived by will continue to live on in his sons.

Surviving are sons, Robert Geoffrey (Melissa) Barron and Christopher James Barron (Victoria Kirk), both of Aylesford; Tyler John (Caitlin) Barron, Chilliwack, British Columbia; grandchildren, Ava, Amelia, Robert (Archer) and Callum; sisters, Sandra (the late James) McLean, Coldbrook; Chris (the late Shaun) Stoddart of Morden; Kathy (Bob) Lutz, of Morden; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife the former Elisabeth J. “Betty” Zeggelaar. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to their long-time family friend, Mary Kennedy, for all her visits and kindness shown to Robert and his family over the years. The home care provided to Robert by the Victorian Order of Nurses was very much appreciated and their care, support and compassion will always be remembered. Thank you is extended to all the first responders for their efforts.

All are welcome to attend the visitation 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, in Aylesford & District Volunteer Fire Hall, 1083 Park Street, Aylesford. A private graveside service will take place in Berwick Cemetery, Main Street, Berwick. Donations in his memory may be made to Aylesford Soft Ball Association.
