Robert "Bob"
John Banks
October 10, 1962 – November 12, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert "Bob" Banks on November 12, 2025, at home in Spa Springs.
Born in Middleton, NS, he was the son of the late Rodney and Esther (Crawford) Banks of Spa Springs.
After graduation, he attended Agriculture College in Truro and then returned to the family's dairy farm where he worked hard doing the milking and the business aspect of the farm, always striving to create the best herd possible. Farming was his life right up to his passing as it gave him a reason to get up in the morning. He was a member of the Annapolis County Federation of Agriculture, Farmers' Dairy, and the Western County Holstein Club. He received numerous accolades while in 4-H including trips and awards.
Adventures with Bob started early. Borrowing his parent's vehicle for the weekend never knowing if it would come back in one piece, or a phone call saying, "we need the tractor cause we're in the ditch." It only took a call from the boys and Bob and his case of schooner were gone.
His love of hockey was huge. Probably the biggest Toronto Maple Leaf's fan you could find even through the highs and lows of the team. He was ecstatic when his girls started playing hockey in which he helped coach and certainly pushed them to achieve their absolute best. Bob played minor hockey through his teens, high school hockey, and men's league hockey. In his free time, he so enjoyed going to an exhibition, truck pulls or a good auction.
Bob was a good husband and Dad and strived to teach the girls that hard work will pay off.
Bob is survived by his wife, Angela (Luxton); daughters Rachael (Brody), Fredericton, NB; and Kayla (Jurian), Esquimalt, BC; granddaughter Maelynn Davidson - who always put a smile on Grampy's face; brothers, David (Elaine), Gordon (Tracey), Peter (Cheyenna); sisters, Kathy and Jan (Arnar); numerous nieces and a nephew.
A special thank-you to the RCMP and Jan, Paula, and Margo for staying that day.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Middleton & District Arena.
