Obituary

Lloyd, Robert Allen, Master Corporal (retired), 67, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., NS, left his earthly home on Saturday, January 10, 2026 with his daughter by his side at Fisherman's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the only son and youngest child of the late Robert Arthur and Faith Marie (Faulkner) Lloyd.

He grew up in Halifax and started his education at LeMarchant St. School. When he was eight years old the family moved to Bridgewater and he continued his education at the Bridgewater schools. During his school years he was a member of the sea cadets and immediately after his schooling enlisted in the military. Early in his career he was a Combat Engineer and joined the Canadian Airborne Regiment to become a paratrooper and retired, after 20 years, as a Stationery Engineer in Greenwood, NS. After retirement he worked in Digby, East Chester and Bridgewater. His military friends were considered brothers, and he joined the Veterans Paratrooper Motorcycle Club.

He loved animals and at one point had 5 rescued rottweilers and, at the time of his death, his most beloved companion was a chihuahua-mix girl named Jazz who never left his side even everyday during his hospice stay. During his years in Digby, he was introduced to the bible and continued to read and study the word of God found in the bible. His newfound faith and understanding was what helped him through some difficult times.

Bob is survived by one daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Blacklock, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and her children, Ava, Olivia, Abigail; and one son, Robert "Andrew" Lloyd. Also surviving are two sisters, Roberta (Peter) Joudrey, and Dianne (Karl) Langille, both of the Bridgewater area.

Bob was a very private and reserved person and requested that there be no visitation or funeral. The burial was held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in the Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square next to his parents, conducted by Bridgewater Legion Chaplain, Rev. Wendell Eisner.

The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Wainwright, staff at both South Shore Regional Hospital, Fisherman's Memorial Hospital and the wonderful and caring staff at the new Fisherman's Memorial Hospice Unit. Also, to the home care workers that enabled him to stay in his home for so long. A special word of thanks to two of his great friends, Vic and Mike, who have supported him since he got sick. If you would like to honor Bob's memory, please consider making a donation to an animal shelter or rescue in your area.
