Robert Lawson Moore

MOORE, Robert Lawson - Age 76, of Greenwood, Kings Co., N.S., passed away at home on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Born on January 25, 1950, in New Glasgow, Pictou Co., N.S., he was raised across the river in Stellarton – a town that remained dear to his heart throughout his life, and which he maintained (with some conviction) was the better side of the river.

The son of the late Robert Leslie and Evelyn Catherine (Glenn) Moore, Robert joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1969 and went on to build a distinguished 31-year career marked by travel, service and camaraderie. His postings took him to Cornwallis, NS; Summerside, PEI; Daniel’s Head, Bermuda; Winnipeg, MB; Lowther, North Bay and Ottawa, ON; Halifax and Shearwater, NS; and finally Greenwood, NS, where he retired in July 2000, with the rank of Master Warrant Officer – having seen a good deal of the world and, on occasion, improving it with his presence.

He also served internationally, including with the United Nations Emergency Force in Egypt in 1979 and on Operation BISON in Rimini, Italy, in 1988 – deployments he spoke of with pride, and the occasional well-timed story.

Robert’s passion for travel continued into retirement. He and his beloved wife made frequent winter trips to Florida, where he embraced the relaxed rhythm of Caribbean cruises, the snowbird community, and the chance to survey the Blue Jays’ prospects in the Grapefruit League - all while remaining firmly committed to his golf game.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, confidante, caregiver and soulmate of 48 years, the former Donna Friedrich; his proud sons, Travis (Megan Johnson) and Bradley (Kirstie Leighton); and his siblings, Glenda (Brian Buckles) and Brian (Rose Lloyd). He will be deeply missed by his many golfing partners, coffee companions, and fellow veterans in the community – many of whom will agree he was generous with his time, his stories and his opinions.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program, the Cancer Treatment Ward at QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax and the many community members whose charity and grace and friendship allowed Bob’s final days to be comfortable and dignified.

Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d;
If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.
