RIGBY, Robert Roy, CD - 79, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Hartland, NB on August 30, 1932, he was a son of the late Carle and Lily (Smith) (Cowan) Rigby. He studied at the New Brunswick Agricultural College prior to enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 22 years during which time he completed 2 tours with the United Nations Emergency Force in El Arish, Egypt. Later he was employed with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires at CFB Greenwood. Robert had many hobbies and was a skilled woodworker who also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cribbage. He is survived by his wife, the former Marion Ginson, Greenwood, daughters; Melody (Kevin) Armstrong, Calgary, AB and Kimberly (Corrado) Padova, Toronto, ON; son, Brent (Nicole) Rigby, Upper Tantallon, NS; sister, Helen (Einar) Soros, North Vancouver, BC; half-sisters, Ann Roqueta, Boynton Beach, FL; Judy Maus, Justin, TX; and step sister, Shirley Hoyt, Saint John, NB; brother, Carle Jr. (June) Rigby, Vernon, BC; half-brother, Barrie (Margaret) Rigby, Saint John, NB; grandchildren, Crystal Barkhouse, Brandon Barkhouse, Kristina Padova, Breanna Padova, Sebastian Padova, Benjamin Rigby, and three great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his mother, Bessie Bluhm, infant brother, John Rigby, half-brother, Michael Rigby, step brother, William Cowan and step sister, Connie Skinner. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00PM Tuesday, May 29, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, May 30, 2012 with Rev. Bruce Kaiser officiating. Interment will be 2:00PM Friday, June 1, 2012 in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hartland NB. By request, family flowers only.
