Obituary

ROCKWELL, Robert Leigh "Bobby" ~ Age 84, of Waterville, Kings Co., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 1, 2023, surrounded by family members. Born on September 2, 1938, in Hants Border, Kings Co., and was a son of the late Leigh B. and Eva L. (Benedict) Rockwell. He was the youngest of six children, and his family was very important to him. Bobby worked as a painter most of his life and retired from DND Aldershot, after 25 years. He had a lifelong passion for hunting, enjoyed playing softball in his younger years and wood carving in his later years. Bobby was a veteran member of Waterville & District Volunteer Fire Department, and had been a member of St. John Ambulance in Waterville, Nova Scotia Houndsman Association, Kings County Wildlife Association and Valley Coon & Cathound Club.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, the former Sharon E. Schofield; son, Randall "Randy" (Judy) Rockwell, Waterville; daughter, Sherry (Brian Smith) Rockwell, of Wilmot; grandchildren, Leigh (Sarah Adams) Rockwell; Caitlyn (Lucas) Schurman; Christopher (Zeta Paul) Publicover; great grandchildren, Oliver and Sophie Schurman; Casey Rockwell and another one on the way; sister, Eunice (the late Carl) Doherty, Berwick; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Gordon (Marian) Rockwell; Ronald (Marjorie) Rockwell; sisters, Thelma (George) Walsh; Jean (Owen) Shepherd.

Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Thursday evening in Waterville & District Volunteer Fire Department (Cornwallis Square Village Hall) 1415 County Home Road, Cambridge, from where a service in celebration of Bobby's life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 9. Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Waterville Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Waterville & District Volunteer Fire Department, Waterville Cemetery or to Waterville Recreation Club. Bobby's family would like to say a special thank you to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Palliative Care Team, and Dr. Robin Bustin, who went above and beyond for 40 years.
