Obituary

BALSOR, Robert Roy "Bobby" - 65, Aylesford Mountain, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at home. Born in Berwick, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Roy and Greta (Davidson) Balsor. Bobby was a fourth generation beef farmer and as part of his farm business had trucked produce to Halifax, plowed snow and operated a construction company. For the past six years he owned and operated Balsors Farm Market in Berwick, a family owned and operated business. Bobby was a long-time member of the Aylesford & District Volunteer Fire Department, with 38 years of service. He was active in both provincial and federal Progressive Conservative Parties. Bobby was a member of the Annapolis Valley Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, Harmony Lodge # 52, A.F. & A.M., Aylesford, and the Maritime Truck Tractor Pullers Association. He had also been a foreman for the Department of Transportation, Berwick Branch. Surviving are his son, Ricky (Karleen) Balsor, Aylesford; grandchildren, Andrew, Alberta; Justin "Cooter" and Dillon, Aylesford; with great-grandchildren; companion, Angela "Angie" Schofield, Aylesford Mountain, and her children, Katelyn, Aylesford and Kyle, Canning; siblings, Trudie "Pie" (Ted Stoddart) Spinney, Aylesford Mountain; Gary "Bim" (Verna "Bumpy") Balsor, Aylesford Mountain; Judy (Merrill Jr.) Ogilvie, Morden Mountain; Linda Balsor, Coldbrook; sister-in-law, Brenda (Lawrence) Keddy, Black Rock; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Bondra M. "Bonny" (Best) Balsor; brother-in-law, Terrie Spinney. Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, in the Aylesford & District Fire Hall, 1083 Park St., Aylesford, from where the funeral service and reception will take place at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3. Rev. Brenda Nesbitt officiating, with burial in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to any charity.
