Obituary

SANFORD, Robert Wayland – Middleton, NS, - It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our brother, Robert Wayland Sanford, on 14 September 2017. He was a son of the late Moody Raymond Sanford and Alice Louise (Ward) Sanford. He was born in Middleton on 13 August 1944. He graduated from Middleton Regional High School in 1962 and from Nova Scotia Teachers College in 1964. After graduating from NSTC, he taught at Lawrencetown Consolidated School from 1964 until 1992, when it was closed. He then went on to teach at Bridgetown Regional High School from 1992 until 1996. Even after he retired, he still took an interest in school sports, helping out with driving players to events and various other things. He was also active in helping people with their computer problems. He will be missed by his sister, Pauline Ruth (Sanford) Levesque, Meadowvale, NS; Margaret Elizabeth (Sanford) Quarrie, Ottawa, Ontario; and brother, Richard Alan Sanford, Middleton, NS. Also, niece, Maurena Madelyn Langlois, grandnephews, Alexander Bandula and Edmund Latour, Ottawa. He is predeceased by his parents, and his niece, Anne Louise (Levesque) Jefferson. He was very active in the Boy Scouts in his youth. Also was involved with the St. John Ambulance. He was also a very active member of the Kinsmen Club of Mid-Annapolis Valley, serving as treasurer and co-chairman for TV Bingo. He was awarded a life membership in the Kinsmen club. The family would like to thank the Dr.'s and staff of Soldier's Memorial Hospital for the care and kindness shown to Robert while in their care. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 17, at Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. (902)-825-3448. Donations in Robert's memory can be made to the Charity of Choice.
