Slauenwhite, Robert "Rob" Wayne ~ 77 of Margaretsville

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, Rob (77) passed away unexpectedly at home. He was born June 1, 1944 in Bridgewater and grew up in Stanburne.

Rob moved to beautiful Margaretsville with his wife Laverne in 1974 where he created and nurtured a wonderful life, marriage, and loving family. He was brave, strong, quiet, thoughtful, and possibly one of the world's best listeners. He was extremely handy, hard-working, and a great problem solver. Helping family, friends, and the community was a great source of joy for Rob who often gave his time to others happily.

Traveling led him to Ireland, Turkey, and many places in North America from St John's to Vancouver, Alaska to Florida. Rob loved the outdoors. He managed a Christmas tree farm with his wife Laverne and enjoyed gardening where he displayed a green thumb.

Rob was a devout Christian serving in the Baptist Church as well as a firefighter in the Margaretsville Fire Dept for 35 years.  He first worked as an auto body mechanic, later transitioning to an auto appraiser with Co-operators insurance, retiring after 25 years.

Rob is predeceased by his father, Burpee; mother, Mae; and older brother Harley. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Laverne; brother, Herb (Dianne); sons, Derek (Kirsty), Colin (Lynett); and his grandsons Alex, Caden, and Harley who were his pride and joy.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 27 in Margaretsville Baptist Church; reception to follow in the vestry. No flowers please; donations to Margaretsville Baptist Church or charity of choice.
