Obituary

Steadman, Robert Allan, 74 of Lawrencetown, died peacefully with loved ones by his side, Thursday, March 29, 2012. Born in Upper Granville, NS, he was a son of the late Clyde and Violet Mae (Gregory) Steadman. Rob retired from Department of Natural Resources. He was a member of Lawrencetown Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) for 50 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting with his dog, trapping, gardening, picking berries and canoeing. Rob enjoyed going for drives with family and friends to look at the scenery and going for an ice cream. He built many pieces of furniture and other items. Rob was active in the Big Bike Ride for several years, delivered Meals on Wheels to seniors and was a director of Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. In Rob's later years before going to Mountain Lea Lodge he did a lot of walking and enjoyed country music at the jams. Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Joan (Whitman), Lawrencetown; Son, Randy (Leanne) Steadman , Caribou Lake, Lunenburg County and granddaughter, Kacie; daughters, Sandy (Roy ) Banks, Wilmot and grandsons, Greg, Geoff, and Chris; Teresa (Mario), Cold Lake, AB and grandsons, Mitchell and Alex; Tanya ( Wayne); Kentville; brother, Orland (Marion) Steadman, Lawrencetown and Mother-in- Law, Marjorie Whitman, Lawrencetown. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Joyce Nogler, Laura Illsley and Viola Higginbotham and brothers, David, Earl and Franklyn. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 31st from the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St (902) 825-3448, where a memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Sunday, April 1, 2012 with Pastor Patty Beals officiating. Interment will be in the Whitman Cemetery, Lawrencetown. By request, family flowers only.
