Robert Clark "Bob" Stewart

The family of Robert Clark Stewart are saddened to announce his death after a brief illness. He was the eldest of three boys of the late Mildred (Clark) and Donald Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sheila; brothers, Mark and wife Marni Gent; Peter and wife Kathy Neale; and children, Sara and spouse Tim Lowe; Andrew and partner Patty Cassie; Ian and spouse Kyla Stanick. In addition to being a proud father, he clearly adored his grandchildren, Haley and Callum.

Bob lived most of his life in Berwick in the family home. Bob attended Acadia and Dalhousie University and graduated with a law degree in 1977. He was proud to return to work as a lawyer in Berwick, first with Donald Hall and later with Greg Turner at the office on Cottage Street.

Bob was an avid reader and a devoted CBC listener. He spent time puttering around the cottage and was always ready to have a bonfire. Conversations around the dinner table were always lively, and Bob took great pains to ensure his family's history was passed on. He loved showing the children how to navigate outdoors, canoeing, learning to drive the boat, and taking the time to explain the many things they discovered in nature.

Bob enjoyed practicing law and did so with kindness and care for 40 years. After his retirement he could be found walking around town, wearing his Tilly hat, chatting and along the way taking the opportunity to sell tickets for fund raisers of various organizations to everyone he met. On his walks, he enjoyed meeting with friends and sharing a beer at the Smokehouse. Bob was a long-time member of the Berwick Curling Club and the Berwick & District Lions Club and worked on their community projects. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick, being a proud supporter and enjoyed his time there. Bob has shared his passion for reading by erecting a little red library near Lake George, so feel free to add books and take some home.

A private green burial was held April 20, in the Berwick Cemetery. Celebration of life will be held from 2-4 pm, on Friday, May 1, in Berwick & District Lions Hall, Wilson Family Community Room, Kings Mutual Century Centre, 250 Veterans Drive, Berwick. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.
