BANKS, Rodney Floyd - 83 of Spa Springs passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Paradise, Annapolis Co. he was the son of the late Floyd & Sarah (McNeill) Banks. In his early years he went to Toronto to work in various jobs to compliment his working on the farm in summer. He started farming with his wife Esther first in Upper Granville, later moving to Spa Springs in 1963 where he still operated a successful dairy farm until his retirement. Rodney was a member of Ionic Masonic Lodge #73 Middleton and a past member of the provincial Environmental Control Council, was an avid hockey fan, attended all the local exhibitions and just enjoyed being outdoors. He is survived by his wife the former Esther Crawford; sons, David (Elaine) Banks, Melvern Square; Robert (Angela) Banks, Spa Springs; Gordon Banks (Tracey Coulter) Spa Springs; Peter (Cheyenna) Banks, South Farmington; daughters , Kathryn Banks, North Vancouver and Jan (Arnar) Magnusson, Spa Springs; grandchildren, Ashley, Alexandra, Rachael, Kayla, Katrine, Laara, Paige and Jonah. He is survived by his sister Marian (Dr. William) Hamilton of Sackville, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by brothers Clarke in infancy and Emerson. By request cremation has taken place. Private interment will be held at a later date. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 Rev.
