Obituary

EHRENFELD, Roger Francis-70 of Middleton formerly of New Albany passed away Monday, June 28, 2010 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born October 11, 1939 in Morristown, New Jersey, USA, he was a son of the late Charles and Lillian (Colfax) Ehrenfeld. After a long time trucking and contracting career in the USA, Roger decided to move to Nova Scotia permanently in 1976 where he managed Maritime Truck Brokerage at the Annapolis Valley Peat Bog in Berwick. In September 1977 he married Anna Elaine Veinotte from Nicholsville and soon on after that moved to New Albany to open his dream of a hunting and fishing outfitting lodge where he and his wife raised their family. In the years to follow, Roger managed several tree removal and pruning companies which handled contracts for Nova Scotia Power Corporation, long haul trucking and ventured into several more tourism based businesses, including horseback adventures, cottage rentals and a restaurant. Roger was an outdoor enthusiast with a huge love for horses. He is survived by his wife Anna; eldest daughter, Karen Rafuse, stepson, Glenden Palmer; stepdaughter, Lorraine Spidell and daughter, Jennifer Ehrenfeld-Poole and several grandchildren. By Rogers request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, July 3, 2010 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, Father Gerald Saulnier officiating. Interment will be in St. Monicas Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory may be made to the Companion Animal Protection Society CAPS.
