Obituary

Roger Henshaw, a man of boundless energy, teasing humor, and strong faith, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2024, at the age of 52. Born on April 21, 1972, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Roger lived a life-giving love, devotion, and service to others, guided by his faith in "Christ Jesus is my King."
Roger was creative in everything that he did, and especially in his culinary art.
He was a talented chef, known for creating beloved valley dishes that brought people together. He also founded the Serving to Serve Project at Wheaton's Cider Press Café, a mission designed to unite the valley churches in supporting local outreach charities. The project will continue in his honor, carrying forward his legacy of compassion and community spirit.
Roger was passionate about music, fishing, gardening, and hobby-farming. He found peace in nature and pride in the fruits of his labour.
Roger's strong faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. A dedicated servant of his church community. He embodied the love of God through his actions at church events.
Roger's family was his greatest treasure. He is survived by fiancé Theresa Tasco his parents, Rae and Ron Henshaw; his sister, Rhonnie VanHattem (Randy). He was a loving father to Drew Anderson, Cody Anderson, Nariah Pudsey, Kaleb Henshaw, Kaiden Henshaw and Jayden Henshaw; stepchildren Brayden Walsh, and Deven Tasco. He was a fun-loving uncle to nieces and nephews: Jesse VanHattem, Kirkland VanHattem, Cori Metcalfe (Brayden), and Mackenzie Mullen (Andrew). He was predeceased by his stepson AJ Tasco.
A celebration of Roger's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7 in the Trinity Pentecostal Church in Greenwood, NS. The family wishes everyone come in casual clothes as Roger would have preferred it that way. Rev. Mitchell Lewis officiating with interment in the Clementsvale United Baptist Cemetery, Clementsvale, NS.
Roger's humor, warmth, joy and generosity left an incredible mark on everyone. His presence brought light to every room, and his faith-filled life was a testament to the power of love and service.
Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the projects he started and the lives he inspired. Donations in Roger's memory may be made to Kingswood Camp.
