RUGGLES, Ronald Carl - Age 67 of Inglisville, Annapolis Co., NS, passed away peacefully at Valley Hospice, Kentville on November 3, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Ron was born in Middleton on May 9, 1956, and was a son of June (Ruggles) Wood and the late William Wood, Inglisville. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Carl and Florence (Connell) Ruggles.
Ron was a graduate of the Maritime Forest Ranger School and was employed as a forest technician/game warden by the Department of Natural Resources upon graduation in 1977 until his retirement in 2008. After retirement, Ron became a bus driver with the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; sons, Jeremy, Smiths Falls, ON; Ryan, Airdrie, AB; grandchildren, Scarlet and Jaxon; brothers, Leroy (Sue) Wood; Bud (Stefanie) Wood; sister, Rhonda (Mike) Bezanson; sisters-in-law, Sharon Layte; Cathy (David) Bezanson and Carol Layte (Derek Pearson); brothers-in-law, Harvey (Debbie) Layte and Mike Layte and many nieces and nephews.
Ron dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren and loved spending quality time with his family. His love of hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs was passed on to his sons. As a young man Ron was an avid player of all sports, especially tennis, ball and hockey and continued his interest in hockey by coaching his sons' teams. He was a former member of the Lawrencetown & District Lions Club and former member of the Lawrencetown Youth Arena.

You are invited to a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, with Rev. Janet Baker officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Private family interment will be in Whitman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation or Whitman Cemetery, Lawrencetown.
