Obituary

MAILMAN, Ronald Evan - 92 of Middleton passed away peacefully at home Sunday, October 27, 2013. Born in Middleton, Ron was the only son of the late Rita (Phinney) and Andrew Mailman. He was the owner of R.E. Mailman Shoe Store in Middleton for over 40 years. Ron was a proud player of the clarinet and saxophone in the West Novies for many years. Along with his love of music, Ron truly enjoyed vacationing in Florida with his wife Olive where they wintered for eight years following his retirement. He is survived by his second wife of 32 years the former Olive Nancy Sanford. Son John Mailman, Dartmouth; daughters Debbie Mailman, Bridgewater, Susan Messenger - Emilsson and Carolyn Messenger Brolsma both of Calgary. Ron is also survived by two stepsons he embraced through his second marriage, Jim (Doreen) Sanford, Ontario and Roger (Cathy) Sanford of Pictou County as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife the former Margaret Elizabeth Pineo-Messenger, daughters Noelle Geddes and Jane Messenger-Johnson. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, where a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 1st., Rev. Bill McLeod officiating, followed by a reception. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. By request, family flowers only.
