Obituary

SABEAN, Ronald Garfield "Ron" ~ age 84 of Port Lorne, NS passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 surround by his family in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Clarence, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Marguerite (Marshall) Sabean. Ronald loved horses, hunting, woodworking and was an avid historian, especially when it came to the Second World War. He served with the Royal Highland Regiment "The Black Watch" and was a Special Constable/Animal Control Officer for 30 years with the Municipality of the County of Annapolis. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved children, Ronnie Sabean Jr., Port Lorne; Trevor Sabean, Dartmouth; Crystal (Peter) Batt, Kingston; Anita (Ken) Talpas, Greenwood; grandchildren, George, Meagan and Sam Batt, Matthew and Natalie Ann Talpas, who meant the world to him; as well as sisters-in-law, Patsy Sabean (late Dean Sabean), Bridgetown; Gail Meisner (late John Meisner), Brooklyn, Queens Co.; special niece, Sherry Durling, Bridgetown and numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companion "Rascal", who gave him great comfort over the past four years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Beverly Ann, his siblings, Kenneth "Gordon", Donnie, Audrey, Claude, Dean and Ray. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th at the Port Lorne Fire Hall, 532 Port Lorne Road, Port Lorne, NS.  This is a casual non-formal event, where family and friends may drop-in to share memories with the family and pay their respects. Interment for Mom and Dad will follow in Fundy View Cemetery, Port Lorne. Donations in Ronald's memory may be made to the Mental Health Foundation, Lung Association, the Port Lorne Fire Hall where he was one of the founding members or to your favorite animal charity.
