Ronald Elvin
Stevenson
February 2, 1945 – January 29, 2026
Stevenson, Ronald Elvin – 80, of Brooklyn, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at home with family by his side. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Elvin James and Enid Delight (Kenney) Stevenson. Ron was a lifelong farmer running a cow-calf operation on his family farm in Mount Hanley. In addition to the farm, Ron worked for MT&T (Bell Aliant) retiring in his late 40's. He had a passion for sports and stayed active all his life through tennis, squash, golf, running, and most recently cycling. Ron was a member of the Middleton Baptist Church. Ron was a family man with a strong mindset who loved life fiercely. He was a very loving and supportive husband, Dad, and Grampie who was always there with a word of advice and encouragement. Grampie was always ready to cheer on his grandkids. Whether it be hockey, football, soccer, or a horse show he was their biggest fan. We will miss his cheerful and positive attitude, often yelling across the barnyard, "There's no life like it!" Surviving is his loving wife of almost 59 years, Marilyn (Sproule); son, Troy (Taryn) Stevenson; Kentville; daughter, Tina (Harold) Wood, Mount Hanley; grandsons, Kyle Stevenson, and Travis Wood (Carly Giffin), Lawrencetown; great grandchildren, Bailee, Dawson, and Ivy; sister, Barb (Randy) Keddy, Bridgewater; brother, Gary Stevenson, Brickton; nieces and nephews, Tim, Derren, Stephanie, Kirk, Shannon, Brent. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Maxine Chase and Nancy Hutson. We also would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the VON nursing staff, Palliative Care Specialist Team, EHS paramedics, and Middleton Funeral Home for their heart-felt care and support. A special thanks also goes out to caregiver Janis for her offerings of kindness and comfort to Ron. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Life for Ron will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Middleton Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Danny Smith and Rev. Elizabeth Amirault officiating. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Middleton Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448.
