SCHMID, Roswitha ~ Age 61, of Nictaux Falls and formerly of Vienna, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, after a short illness.

Born on April 27, 1963, in Vienna, she was a daughter of Herta (Naderer) and the late Hubert Schmid of Austria.

Roswitha will be remembered as a compassionate and caring woman, always willing to help others. She had many friends, who she collected throughout her life as a postulant / novice sister, parish assistant, religion schoolteacher, Kaffeesiederin, in dancing classes and as a neighbour in Nictaux Falls. Every year she made thousands of the most wonderful Christmas cookies that she shared in colourful cookie cans.

Besides her mother, Roswitha leaves behind her one sister, Susanna; and two brothers, Thomas and Johannes all of Austria. She was predeceased in 1974 by her sister, Regina. In Nictaux Falls, Roswitha also leaves behind her wife, Janet Hatt, and her cats, Leftover and Kiwi and her dogs Sunshine and Moonshine. She will be deeply missed.

Although she spent several weeks every year in Austria, visiting family and friends, she loved Nictaux Falls. Roswitha took great pleasure in making a warm and pleasant home there. Some of her remains will be scattered at Nictaux Falls soon with a few close family and friends, the rest will travel to Austria for an Austrian style service for her friends and family there.
