Roxy Irene
Potter
May 5, 1933 – July 5, 2023
POTTER, Roxy Irene ~ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom aged 90 years in the presence of family and her Minister. Formerly of Nictaux, Mom passed away on July 5, 2023, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Roxy was the youngest child of the late Roscoe and Olive (Bishop) Buckler of Bear River. She was the wife of the late William H. Potter "Bill". He passed away in 2012 after sixty-one years of marriage. Mom was a caring and loving wife and mother who always kept the best interests of her family and friends as the focus of her life. She endured the loss of her two daughters, Debbie Anne aged 18 years and Karen Lynn aged 50 years. These two deaths took a lot out of mom but her faith in God sustained her and kept her strong. Mom was a stay-at-home mother until her children were older. She worked for many years at the Mid Valley Motel, Willowdale Motel, Wynn's Grocery and finally mom had many happy memories working for Hal and Liz Cox, especially looking after their children, Nicole and Adam, a job she truly loved. Mom was a member of the Nictaux Baptist Church for many years. She was an honorary Firette, a White Cross Worker, Friendly Neigbour Member, along with Dad a member of Acat's transporting seniors and members of the community to their appointments. Finally, she and the late Hazel Daphnee were volunteer community Welfare Workers. Mom was a great cook even though she claimed she couldn't even boil water when she first married our dad. Her roast beef dinner and homemade pies were delicious. Mom was known for her homemade chocolates and her peanut butter fudge. Mom is survived by her two sons, Glendon (Charmaine) and Kevin; four grandchildren, Emily (Dan), Erica (Brian), Sarah and Sean; three great grandchildren, Tanner, Samuel and Benjamin; sister-in-laws, Alice Buckler and LaVaughn Buckler; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Roxy was predeceased by daughters, Debbie Anne (1972) and Karen Lynn (2008); her loving husband, William Harley "Bill" (2012); her two older brothers, Gerald and Donald; her sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Bobby Isles, Hazel and Cecil Jr. "Junnie" Bell; sister, Doris "Maxine" Buckler at a very young age in 1941. The family would like to thank her home care team who allowed mom to stay in her own home up until a few months ago. A special thanks to Tina whom mom was grateful for all her extra help and care. We can't thank mom's neighbours enough and her longtime family friends, especially Phyllis Smith, Vera Beals and Mona Martin for their support over the years. Although mom wasn't at Mountain Lea Lodge for a long time, the family would like to thank the staff for looking after our mother in her time of need. A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, in Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., toll free: 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Jeff Milne officiating. A private family interment will take place in Nictaux Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nictaux Baptist Church or charity of choice.
