Rozalie "Rose" Anne (Melnychuk) Hines, of Middleton passed away on May 10,2023 at the age of 97. She is now with her Lord and Saviour and all of her loved ones that have gone before. Besides her parents Dmytro and Helena, Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband James, infant son Vernon and Ukranian siblings Vicky(Bill), Steve(Mary), Paul(Wasie),Bill and "adopted" eastern siblings Maynard(Lorraine), Elizabeth(Elliott), Annie(Maurice), Olive(Robie) and niece Lynn. Remaining to grieve her loss are daughters Linda and Veronne (Scott) Smallwood as well as grandson Christopher (Lindsay) Smallwood and great grandchildren Ethan and Liliana. Aunty Rose will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Rose was classy, intelligent, capable and compassionate. She was proud of her Ukrainian roots and made the best perogies and cabbage rolls. Rose mastered whatever she undertook to do from computers, to crossword puzzles to sewing, painting and of course Ukrainian egg decorating. Rose was often the "go to" person when life was less than kind. She shone a light that made this world a better place to be. She loved her family with unconditional love. She lived her life of faith in quiet dignity and unobtrusive ways always ready to be of help wherever or whenever needed. Rose has left this world a better place by having been here. If you knew her you were blessed. If you were loved by her you were blessed beyond belief. Mom, you now live at a new address and we will miss you and love you until we all meet again. A big heartfelt thanks to daughter, Linda, whose compassionate care enabled mom to live in her own home so long. Funeral service will be held 1:00PM Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Dr. Danny Smith and Rev. Elizabeth Amirault officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Donations in memory may be made to Middleton Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
