Russell D. Annis (84) died March 10, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born in Watertown, MA in 1927, he met his wife of 60 years, Mildred (Boates) Annis at the Waltham Church of the Nazarene. Together they committed their lives to Christ, serving God in all ways. Rus' served in the U.S. Army in France where Mildred joined him. Returning to Framingham, MA, they raised six children. Rus' worked in banking for many years. Moving to Cape Cod in 1971, he worked as a bookkeeper for the Hyannis Jewelry Shop and was an active member of the Dennis Church of the Nazarene. Fondly known as "Papa" to family and friends, Rus' was a talented baker and became known as the "Bread Man" in the village of Margaretville, Nova Scotia where he summered. Papa was known for his Boston baked beans, sticky buns, and hot cross buns as well as a wonderful sense of humor. He was well loved by family and friends and is survived by his beloved wife Mildred, and his children, Deborah Hilton of West Yarmouth, Lynne Brennan and her husband Gary of Centerville and Taunton, Cheryl Cates and her husband James of Sandwich, Russell Annis Jr. and his wife Kim of Belchertown, Janine Annis-Young and her husband Rusty of Yarmouth Port, and Randall Annis and his wife Shelby of Dennisport. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Dennis Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, March 17. Visitation at the church will be 12:00 - 1:30 pm with the service at 2:00 pm. Service of remembrance will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, March 20 in Margaretsville Baptist Church, Margaretsville, Nova Scotia. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Middleton, Nova Scotia Canada. Nova Scotia arrangements will be handled by Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, Middleton, NS B0S 1P0. Donations in memory may be made to the Parkinsons Center for Comprehensive Care at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital-Cape Cod, 311 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537 or the Margaretsville Baptist Church.
