Russell Edward
Hannam
April 10, 1949 – May 15, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Russell Edward Hannam, of Carleton Corner, NS, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on May 15, 2025 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 76. Russell was born on April 10, 1949, to Perley and Shirley 'Velva' (Shipp) Hannam. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Russell enjoyed many types of employment over the years; he was known for working as a milkman for Farmers Dairy, owning Russell Hannam Insurance, co-owning A. W. Allen Modular Home Plant in Bridgetown, selling cars at various car dealerships across the valley, and most recently, as a support councilor at Ledgehill and Crosbie House. Russell also served as a county councilor and was a past member of Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department, Bridgetown Lions Club, and the Eden Golf and Country Club. Russell was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He loved cheering for his favourite team with his family, as well as watching his children and grandchildren compete in their own sports. He also enjoyed puttering around the yard whenever he could, sharing coffee with "the boys" over at Tim Horton's, and creating memories with his family. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 32 years, valuing the camaraderie and support that friendship provided. His spirit and kindness will live on through his family, friends, and community.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Evelyn (Young); daughters, Megan (Chris) Stanley of Parry Sound, Ontario; Melanie (Michael) Stoddart of Brickton; and Maryelle Hannam of Rothesay, New Brunswick; sisters, Dale Ring of Bridgetown and Jan (Bev) Cleaves of Moschelle; brothers, Gordie (Shelley) Hannam of Debert and Cecil (Julie) Hannam of West Dalhousie; and grandchildren, Hannah (Spencer), Brandon, Sam, Haven, and Hanno. Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by his brother, Richard "Dick" and sister, Elouise.
In keeping with Russell's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 6-8PM Monday, May 19, 2025 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448 where a memorial service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, May 20, 2025 with Pastor Herb Anderson and Rev.
