CONNELL, Ruth Margaret ~age 96 of Middleton, NS formerly of Nictaux Falls, NS passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Oliver. She moved to the Pictou area and later came to the Annapolis Valley to work in an apple factory where she met and married Fred. Ruth loved travelling, camping, picnics on the beach and she loved kitchen parties, where there would always be someone playing an instrument. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ruth will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Ross (Betty Lou) Connell, Kingston; Doreen Connell, Kingston; Joan Grant, Bridgetown; Shirley (Richard) Giles, Aylesford; Rose Hannam, Bridgetown; Gary (Sonya) Connell, Bloomington; Karen (Curtis) Trimper, Newfoundland; daughter-in-law, Debbie Connell, New Albany; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Fred; daughter, Betty Robar; son, Allison Connell; grandsons, Colin Connell and Lee Robar; brothers, Gordon Oliver and Stuart "Buck" Oliver; sister, Celia Burns. Visitation will be held 6-8pm Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, from where the funeral service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, February 18, 2024 with Mr. Rodney Veinotte officiating.
