MacLAREN, Ruth Clarke 95, of Greenwood, NS passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in North Hills Care Centre, Granville Ferry. Born in Moncton, NB she was a daughter of the late Walter and Edna (Tingley) Brownell. Ruth devoted her life to her church and family. She was very involved with the United Church and was a Life Member of United Church Women and former Superintendent of the Sunday School. She made all their childrens clothing and loved music, playing the piano and having sing-songs in the family home. Ruth was also a Life Member of the Kingston Lionettes and she always said she met the love of her life, who she later married, on her very first day of school. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Menzel, Salmon Arm, BC; Anne MacLaren, Greenwood; daughter-in-law Caryl MacLaren, Morristown; sons, David (Rami), Adelaide, Australia; Bob (Betty), Amherst; Jim (Jane), Lower Sackville; sister Anna Moore, Perth-Andover, NB; nephew Peter Moore, Perth-Andover, NB; niece Sylvia Moore, Sussex, NB; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Fred; sons Bruce and Sandy and son-in-law Gerhard. Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Kingston United Church, Rev. Michael Mugford officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only.
